Does Sarah Jessica Parker Look Like a Foot?

by Liberty on February 8th, 2008

Sarah Jessica Parker

All-righty, loves. While it’s true I may trash the clothing of our beloved media darlings, I rarely rip apart someone for their looks. But, alas, the time may have come.

Here’s the deal: Not long ago I was reporting on the Sex and the City movie, and while researching everybody’s favorite loser-at-love (aka Carrie), I came across an article noting that Carrie’s portrayer, Sarah Jessica Parker, looked like a foot. A foot! Can you believe that?

At first (well, after I was done howling with laughter), I felt awful for the poor thing, remembering with fondness the multiple screenings of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun in my bff’s living room that left me longing to become a dancer on Soul Train (don’t laugh). Suddenly, I found my pity giving way to acknowledgment that maybe she does kind of resemble a human foot in some odd way. Now every time I see her I think, “Foot!” And every time I see Matthew Broderick, I think “My Gawd, man. You have sex with a foot. That’s whacked!”

So, nasty as this sounds, I do believe I see the connection here, particularly when she wears her hair back (which seems to be pretty frequently). What do you think, dahlings? When you see this woman, do you think “Hot Fashion Goddess” or do you think “I wonder what her head would look like nestled in a Christian Louboutin”?

Grab a Friday afternoon stiff one (cocktail, that is) and weigh in. I’m all ears…

I have to say I do not understand why Sarah Jessica ever wears her hair pulled back like that. Sure, it’s easy - but she really does look much less attractive that way (and yes, a little bit footish - poor darling.) And she can get that hair to fabulous things, so why does she do this to herself? Good question, I know.

now I can just see Katie Holmes or Gwen Stefani pulling a half-footed tight over half of SJP’s face and shoving her into a YSL–HEE!!!
yeah, she needs to gain about 10 pounds and start giving her hairdresser more time with her before a big event. that pulled back hair is a great look when paparazzi snap her in the streets with her kid, but when we’ve seen her for years as Carrie Bradshaw and know what she can do, she really needs to call Patricia Fields and kick it up that notch for the large much photographed soirees.

I don’t understand how discussing mean observations about a person (especially about something they were born with, rather than say the outfits they choose) is considered an appropriate topic. I’m 28 and definitely consider myself a progressive woman, but this topic makes me yearn for a time when we were more considerate and polite (at least in public!). Gossip is hardly a new concept, but in the past it seems people were smarter about it; saving their snarkiest observations (like “she’s ugly as a foot”) for whispers that the target would hopefully never hear. Had the original writer who brought up the SJP observation kept the thought to his/herself, we might never have talked about it. And yet it was repeated, so that a mean observation is now planted inside a lot of other minds. And the cycle continues… This puts me squarely outside of the gossip-loving demographic, but seriously, why can’t we keep pointless, cruel thoughts to ourselves? If an entertainer wears a stupid outfit by choice, go ahead and rip it a new one. It’s a superficial aspect and doesn’t really judge the person as an individual. But to say “I just realized this person is terribly unattractive and wanted to get everyone talking about that”… doesn’t that seem cruel and pointless? Outside of the “fun” of gossip and into new territory of just talking smack? Celebrity or “nobody”, beauty or “ugly”, we all have feelings.

For the love of heaven, Lauren, the whole point was, THIS IS CARRIE BRADSHAW. She can look like a sexy angel who can find love in NYC instead of A FOOT. And if she CAN, she SHOULD. Not that I think my opinion is going to matter or be heard by SJP in the least, but thank God I am allowed to have it!
    EVERYBODY has one….hee!

Elena dahling, thanks for weighing in. You are dead-on and then some. Girl is perfectly capable of some amazing looks - pretty much the entire female population looked to her to set trends (or to live vicariously through) during the SATC days, after all. So bravo, dahling, for making this point. *mwah*

Lauren, your point is definitely taken and I appreciate your thoughts. However, remembering back to one’s kindergarten days is all one has to do to recall the experience of mean observations. We are not breaking new ground here. Besides, love, it’s not a mean observation…merely an everyday observation. Is SJP going to be devastated by it? Doubt it. Was it nice for me or the original owner of the foot concept to put it out there? Nope. But this isn’t exactly a warm and fuzzy type of blog. Those with weak or sensitive hearts might do best to steer clear…or better yet, to have a shot before entry!

In one word yes her face looks like a foot and it was originally stated in the animated show family guy, indeed wisdom from the gutter of humor.
